Basketball Tournament Schedule and Results

Hudson Valley Athletic League:

Varsity Girls:
Quarterfinals: Wooster received a bye
Semifinals: Wooster defeated Darrow 45-12
Finals: Wooster defeated Oakwood Friends 55-29

The Lady Generals capped off an undefeated season with an impressive and decisive win over Oakwood Friends to capture the HVAL tournament title.  Playing in front of their largest crowd of the season, complete with the painted chest boys as well as the Generals’ mascot, the Lady Generals played their most complete game of the season.  With a suffocating defensive effort and an unparalleled unselfishness on the offensive end, Wooster opened the game with an 18-0 run and never looked back.

Kate MacNutt scored 18 points to pace the Lady Generals.  Blair Hamilton tallied 12 points and Monica Dahlgren added 8 points. Other scorers were Emily Fried (6), Venus Okwuka (4), Allie Pfeffer (3), Anna Fisher (2), and Lucy Julian (2).

Varsity Boys:
Quarterfinals: Wooster defeats Oakwood 40-37.
Semifinals: Wooster Lost to NYMA 41-51.

New England Tournament:

Varsity Girls:
Quarterfinals: Wooster lost to Brimmer and May 37-43.

Monica Dahlgren Signs Letter of Intent

Monica Dahlgren ’12 signs a Letter of Intent to play soccer at the University of Connecticut as Headmaster Tim Golding (left) and Athletic Director Dave MacNutt (right) look on.

This was a big day for Monica, the Dahlgren family, and Wooster School Athletics.  Monica is Wooster’s first female athlete to sign a Division I Letter of Intent in the last 20 years.  Monica’s dedication to soccer has been truly remarkable.  The training that she has endured as well as the personal sacrifices she has made has earned her both the support and respect from her peers, faculty members, and administrators. Monica made a verbal commitment to the University of Connecticut in the spring of 2011, and today’s signing represents the culmination of her dedicated efforts over the past decade.  The entire Wooster School community is tremendously proud of Monica and wishes her continued success at the collegiate level.

Monica’s accomplishments include, but are not limited to:

  • Two-time All League Player
  • Two-time New England Prep School All-Star
  • Most Valuable Player Honors on a League Championship team
  • Starting Varsity goalie during all four years in high school
  • Won the USL SYL U15 nationals
  • Finalist in USL SYL U16 nationals
  • USL SYL U16 All-Tournament team
  • Won NERP Championship
  • State Cup finalist
  • Won NEWSS Championship
  • Has played in world class showcases in England, France, Scotland, and Sweden
  • She is ranked as one of the top goalie prospects in the country
